The configurator turns your requirements into a structured preliminary specification. Once submitted, GUK Magnetics will review the information, assess manufacturability and advise on practical materials, grades, coatings or magnetic configurations where required.

Understanding your configurator downloads
The configurator produces practical files for an RFQ or early-stage discussion. Each output remains subject to technical review.

The SVG and STEP files do not include every manufacturing tolerance, material property, coating allowance or application-specific consideration. Calculated mass, surface gauss and pull force are also indicative rather than guaranteed values. All outputs must be reviewed before use in production.

Do I need to know the magnet material or grade?
No. Each material includes a Not sure — GUK to advise route. Describe the application, operating temperature, environment and required performance, and GUK Magnetics can review suitable material and grade options.
Which material grades can I select?
The configurator follows GUK Magnetics’ published material tables: NdFeB base grades from N35 to N55 with standard and higher-temperature series; Sm1Co5 and Sm2Co17 grades; sintered ferrite XM grades with common Y or TDK equivalents where listed; and cast, sintered or bonded AlNiCo grades. Availability and suitability still depend on geometry, operating point, temperature and quantity.
Is the downloaded STEP file production ready?
No. It represents the nominal geometry entered into the configurator and is provided for preliminary reference only. A reviewed and approved manufacturing drawing is still required.
How are surface gauss and pull force estimated?
For supported NdFeB, SmCo and ferrite configurations, the tool combines the selected grade’s nominal remanence with the entered geometry and magnetisation direction. Pull assumes one magnet in clean, direct contact with sufficiently thick mild steel and no air gap. Coatings, paint, surface roughness, steel grade and thickness, temperature and the wider magnetic circuit can materially reduce actual performance, so neither figure is guaranteed or production approved.
Why is a magnetic-performance figure not shown for every selection?
A simplified estimate is not appropriate for every magnetic arrangement. AlNiCo requires application-specific review because its low coercivity makes performance strongly dependent on geometry and the magnetic circuit. Arc segments, custom shapes, radial or multipole magnetisation and incomplete material or grade selections may also require technical modelling instead of an automated result.
Can I configure a non-standard magnet shape?
Yes. Select the custom geometry option and describe the requirement. Attach a detailed drawing or CAD file when submitting the RFQ if one is available.
What if I have a sample but no specification?
Provide the available dimensions, application information, quantities and any known performance requirements. Mention in the enquiry that an existing sample is available for review.
Does submitting a configuration place an order?
No. It creates an enquiry for technical review. GUK Magnetics will confirm manufacturability, the agreed specification, pricing and lead time separately.
