Magnetic Grades
AlNiCo Magnets
AlNiCo (Aluminium–Nickel–Cobalt) magnets were originally developed in the mid-20th century and, while largely replaced by ferrite and rare earth materials for general use, they remain essential in applications requiring magnetic stability, predictable output, and high temperature tolerance.
GUK Magnetics supplies AlNiCo magnets for instrumentation, sensing, control, and specialist applications where consistent magnetic behaviour matters more than maximum strength.
Extensive Range of Grades & Sizes
We supply AlNiCo magnets across multiple grades - including common series such as AlNiCo 5 and AlNiCo 8 - in a wide range of shapes and dimensions. Standard formats are available alongside custom geometries where application constraints demand it.
ISO 9001 Certified
All AlNiCo magnets are supplied to controlled specifications and manufactured using approved processes, ensuring consistent quality and repeatable performance across production and repeat orders.
Stable Magnetic Performance
AlNiCo magnets are valued for their high remanence and stable magnetic output, with performance changing by only ~2% per 100 °C temperature rise. This makes them particularly suitable for applications requiring predictable behaviour over wide temperature ranges.
High-Temperature Capability
With Curie temperatures up to ~800 °C and typical operating ranges well beyond neodymium or ferrite, AlNiCo magnets are suited to environments involving sustained heat exposure without degradation.
Practical Engineering Support
AlNiCo magnets have low coercivity and non-linear demagnetisation curves, making magnet design critical. Our team provides guidance on length-to-diameter ratios, magnetisation direction, tolerances, and handling to reduce the risk of in-service demagnetisation.
RELIABLE DELIVERY & SUPPLY
We focus on realistic lead times, clear delivery expectations, and dependable repeat supply - helping customers plan with confidence and avoid unexpected disruption.

Understanding AlNiCo Magnet Behaviour
Although AlNiCo magnets exhibit high remanence, their low coercivity means geometry and magnetic circuit design are critical. Maintaining appropriate length-to-diameter ratios is essential to prevent unintended demagnetisation during use.
AlNiCo magnets are chemically inert, corrosion resistant, and do not require coatings. However, they are mechanically hard and brittle, so mechanical impact should be avoided during handling and assembly. Where required, GUK Magnetics also supplies bonded AlNiCo magnets, produced by combining AlNiCo powder with epoxy binders. These are used where shape flexibility or specific magnetic characteristics are required.
